Morning Celebrations @ King’s School (10.30am)
These are our main gatherings of the week, lasting about 90 minutes. We outgrew our lovely church in the Docks on Sunday mornings, so we meet at King’s school in Pitt Street, GL1 2BG (Sunday mornings only). You can access by foot in Pitt Street or by car from Gouda Way (look out for our roadside flag)!
We enjoy a time of contemporary worship and Bible based teaching relevant to everyday life. There is also an opportunity for personal prayer at the end. There are separate children and young people’s groups in the same building. Refreshments are served after the celebration finishes.
On the first Sunday of the month there is a ‘bring & share’ lunch at the venue, giving us the chance to enjoy one another’s company for longer. Recently, a member has been bringing his food van along (burgers, salads, etc), making lunch for many of us a lot simpler!
There are a few occasions in the year when we are unable to use King’s school, so it’s always worth checking our calendar to ensure we are there on any given Sunday.
The 7pm Dockside celebration takes place every Sunday evening. It is similar in content to the morning celebration with contemporary worship, Biblical teaching and prayer ministry at the end. These celebrations are well supported by our students and young adults, and the young adults take the lead in them most weeks. It takes place at our lovely church in the Docks and lasts about 75 minutes.
It provides an ideal opportunity for worship for those who have to work during the day, those who are ‘late risers’, those who are on duty at our morning celebration and those who simply want more!
Our students and other young adults go for drinks afterwards to one of the many cafes/pubs in the Docks.
So, come and check us out. We’d love to meet you and hope you’ll feel at home here with us. For more info, contact firstname.lastname@example.org.
Sounds good, but I have some questions…
Can I come to Church if I haven’t been before?
Yes! It doesn’t matter how long ago it is since you last went to a Church, or if you never have been before. You are always welcome to join us at any of our celebrations, courses or events. There is always a friendly welcomer at the door and a welcome desk on Sunday mornings where you can find out more about what’s going on.
What should I wear?!
Whatever you want! There is no dress code. Some people like to come to Church dressed quite smartly and some people like to come in jeans and t-shirts (and hoodies when it’s cold)! We want you to be comfortable wearing whatever you want. Just be aware that it can get a bit chilly in the Church in the winter, so an extra layer is always a good idea.
Do I have to join in?
You don’t have to do anything you don’t want to do. We will say some of the things we believe together but, if you don’t want to say those things, then you do not have to; you are welcome to just listen. If you don’t want to sing, again you can simply listen. You are not expected to take communion, pray or do anything which you don’t feel comfortable doing. We gather and say and sing these things each week because we believe they are life changing truths; we don’t make people believe what we do or say things they don’t believe. You can just sit and listen if you would prefer.
Can children come too?
YES, we would love them to! Children of any age are always welcome at any of our services – even if they’re noisy! On Sunday mornings, there are separate activities for them.
